Saturday, February 22, 2020 9:00pm

Based out of Southeastern Massachusetts, Prestige Worldwide redefines the term ‘acoustic duo’. With a repertoire of nearly 200 songs there is truly something for everyone. As they say of the weather in New England, “If you don’t like it, wait a minute.” the same can be said of their varied and daringly unexpected song selection. Some renditions feature the simplicity of a single acoustic guitar and vocalist while others take you to the opposite end of the spectrum featuring the sound of a full 5-piece band with backing tracks, created live from scratch. Requests from the audience are always welcome and sincerely encouraged!

Blues Beatles

Sunday, March 8, 2020 2:00pm

Blues Beatles started during the breaks of the rehearsals of Today – an original band that Marcos Viana, Flavio Naves, Lancaster Ferreira, Bruno Falcão and Fred Barley started in 2010. Marcos, the singer, would invariably pick up his acoustic guitar and start playing Beatles songs. The other members of the band were amazed at how natural the songs sounded, as if he had written them himself. Being blues players the rest of the band started adding their blues twist to these “break songs”. One day Lancaster said: “why don’t we mix these two things we love to play? We could call this Blues Beatles!”Everyone loved the idea and together they started the Blues Beatles in 2013.

The first version of the Beatles songs that caught people’s attention was Ticket To Ride. The video has now more than two million views on Facebook. The band has worked and reworked many different songs since it was formed, but only the ones that sound natural to their ears stay in the repertoire.  The arrangements combine blues and soul grooves that suit the vocals of the songs while adding a different feel to them. Instrumental solos and improvisation, typical elements of the blues, are an integral part of the Blues Beatles style. Their fiery live performances showcase their individual and collective skills as soloists.

Be on the LOOKOUT for Blues Beatles coming to a town near you in Fall of 2017/Spring of 2018.

Blood, Sweat & Tears

Friday, March 13, 2020 8:00pm

No one can argue BS&T invented a new style of music. Blood, Sweat & Tears is not the first band to ever use a horn section, but they are the first to fuse it with rock, jazz, and some blues thrown in for good measure. From the first ensemble in the late sixties practicing in a loft on Bleeker Street in New York’s Greenwich Village and having crowds clapping on the street below between songs, founding member and drummer Bobby Colomby knew they were on the right course.

Since then, the band has never stopped touring for over 50 years. Their second album self-named “Blood Sweat & Tears” was a success, rising to the top of the charts for 7 weeks and yielding 3 top 5 singles. The album received the Grammy Award for “Album of the Year” in 1970 beating out the Beatles’ “Abby Road”. That album went on to earn quadruple Platinum status with sales well over 4 million units. Blood Sweat & Tears went on to receive 10 Grammy nominations and won 3. Now you can see them live at the Twin River Event Center on March 13, 2020!

The New Providence Big Band

Sunday, March 29, 2020 2:00pm

Steve and Pete met at Barrington High in the fall of 1967, the beginning of their sophomore year.  The next year Steve and Pete created the BHS Jazz Ensemble (although it was called the ‘Stage Band’ at the time). In the summers, they had a band that performed at the end-of-the-year Barrington Yacht Club cookout. By that time, they had already started to accumulate a small book of tunes.

Steve attended Barrington College and majored in Music Ed.; and Pete went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for Engineering. Steve played in the jazz band at Barrington College, and during Pete’s sophomore year, he started the RPI Jazz Ensemble.

After graduation, Steve played in what would become ‘Steve Smith and the Nakeds’, and Pete was playing with the American Band and the RIC orchestra.

They hooked up again around 1986 in a big band in East Providence. Out of that group, they formed a brass quintet called ‘The Ocean State Brass Quintet’ and have been playing with the quintet ever since.

However…  they were always thinking about a big band. Late in 2012, this happened.

“Hey Pete, do you have any big band charts?”

“As a matter of fact, I have over 200 charts that I’ve accumulated over the years (and organized into a detailed excel spreadsheet), I’ve just never been able to find enough musicians!”

“Well, it just so happens that I know quite a few musicians…”

“Calling the album The Medicine Show puts straight up, front and center, that this is about health, wellness, cannabis, this new thought, new paradigm, however you want to talk about it, however you want to understand it. It influences every song on the album. We’re not afraid of this anymore. We’ve come a long way.” It’s an album of renewal, of reconciliation, of reckoning, of compassion and, most profoundly, of healing. These, of course, are themes that have run through Etheridge’s career, core to the vision and drive that has brought her fifteen Grammy Awards nominations and two wins, an Academy Award for “I Need to Wake Up” from the climate change documentary An Inconvenient Truth and has fueled her life’s work as an activist for human rights, LGBTQ issues, breast cancer awareness and alternative medical approaches. The healing builds on the musical medicine of its two predecessors, 2014’s exuberantly expressive This is M.E. and 2016’s joyous trip through the cherished history of the iconic Stax Records legacy, Memphis Rock and Soul. Now you can see Melissa perform all of her great hits LIVE at the Twin River Event Center on Friday, April 10 at 8pm! Tickets start at just $35! On sale 11/22 @10am!

Jimmy Mazz

Sunday, April 12, 2020 2:00pm

Jimmy Mazz’s Las Vegas Legends is a musical journey thru Jimmy’s favorite songs by a wide variety of performers from the classics to today’s contemporary artists hot off the Las Vegas Strip over the Years. Jimmy’s high energy and enthusiasm is tempered only by his ultra-smooth vocals as he croons the voices of tunes from the Ratpack and Nat King Cole, then quickly moves on to glide thru his impressions of the likes of Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdinck, Tony Orlando, Bobby Darin, Lou Rawls, Tony Bennett, and Frankie Valli and Neil Diamond to name a few.

Yes, he’ll certainly stop and focus on “The King”, Elvis Presley with a very amusing parody, but keeps moving & crooning as he covers many more greats like Louis Armstrong, Jimmy Durante’, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Michael Buble’, and maybe even The Boss, Bruce Springsteen. And be sure that in typical Jimmy Mazz style, there will be a few surprises thrown in for good measure. Never the same show twice. Visit jmazzsings.com for more information.

38 Special

Friday, April 17, 2020 8:00pm

After more than four decades together, 38 SPECIAL continues to bring a signature blast of Southern Rock to over 100 cities a year. And at each and every show, thousands of audience members are amazed by the explosive power of the band’s performance.

Their many Gold and Platinum album awards stand in testament to the endurance of a legendary powerhouse.

With sales in excess of 20 million, most associate the band with their arena-rock pop smashes, “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” and more – Timeless hits that remain a staple at radio, immediately recognizable from the first opening chord, and paving the way to their present-day touring regimen.

Guitarist/vocalist DON BARNES says it’s all about maintaining that intensity in their live shows. “We never wanted to be one of those bands that had maybe gotten a little soft or complacent over the years. We’re a team, and it’s always been kind of an unspoken rule that we don’t slack up, we stack up. We go out there every night to win.”

Completing the team is bassist BARRY DUNAWAY, drummer GARY MOFFATT and keyboardist/vocalist BOBBY CAPPS. The most recent addition to the band is legendary virtuoso guitarist and vocalist JERRY RIGGS. For 38 Special onstage, it is a celebration of camaraderie and brotherhood, a precision unit bringing the dedication and honesty to a long history of classic songs, as well as surprisingly fresh new material.

Since 1976, the band has released more than 15 albums. And from the start, they’ve toured relentlessly, bringing their signature brand of ‘muscle and melody’ to fans worldwide.

JOF Presents Jeffrey Osborne

Thursday, April 30, 2020 7:00pm

Jeffrey Osborne is a drum beater, a heart beater, and an odds beater. From his early days percussively propelling the band L.T.D. to its highest heights to spinning off as a solo artist when too few knew his name (but very soon would as the singer of “On the Wings of Love”), Jeffrey Osborne has defiantly marched to the rhythm of his own fiery spirit and come up a winner every time. He’s about to do it again with the release of Worth it All, his first R&B album in over a decade besides his acclaimed 2013 Jazz CD, A Time for Love. This is Osborne’s first album for multi-award-winning Artistry/Mack Avenue Records. Jeffrey and his return to his R&B roots CD will feel right home.

Worth it All is a spirited and highly diversified 12-song collection of material all written, produced and sung by Jeffrey Osborne. All of the songs were written within the last several years and, for the most part, lovingly laser-focused on relationships and romance – subjects near and dear to his heart as he has been happily married for over three decades. Osborne – who made the milestone of 70-years-young on March 9, 2018 – proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that he can still “woo-woo-woo” with the greatest singers still on the planet. With Worth it All, he is working overtime in his original realm of Soul.

“I wanted to do an old school R&B album this time,” Jeffrey explains. “Get back to my roots and do one of those good ol’ ‘Grown Folks’ records. I approached it thinking about songs I listened to in the past that influenced me then wrote my versions of them.”

Come see Jeffrey Osborne live at the Twin River Event Center on Thursday, April 30 at 7pm.

Friday, May 22, 2020 8:00pm

Keith Sweat is a Harlem, N.Y born songwriter / record producer/ vocalist / actor / radio personality, with a career that spans 24 years of record-breaking and trailblazing contributions to the Pop and R&B genre. He is coined the genius behind the New Jack Swing phenomenon of the late 1980s. Keith Sweat’s timely transition to the R&B mecca of Atlanta in 1992 added “label impresario” to his roster of talents. Keith has dominated the Pop and R&B worlds with an indefinable presence. His debut and now classic album Make It Last Forever sold more than three million copies, producing four R&B hit singles, including “I Want Her,” which also landed at #5 on the Pop charts. The album stats also include a nomination for the 1989 Soul Train Best R&B/Urban Contemporary Song of the Year award. Keith Sweat has delivered five straight #1 albums, selling a worldwide total of 25 million records. His self-titled 1996 effort, Keith Sweat, gained quadruple platinum status. His critically acclaimed collaboration with fellow superstars Gerald Levert and Johnny Gill on the double-platinum LSG, was launched a decade after he first landed in the music business.

He has thrived as one of Atlanta’s first record industry moguls, building his own recording studio and discovering new artists such as Silk and Kut Klose – signing both multi-platinum groups to his Keia Record label. Sweat has become one of Atlanta’s leading mentors for young talent, its principle purveyor of R&B music. The unflappable Sweat points to his consistency as the key to his success and achievement of a dozen top ten R&B singles including seven #1’s, four top five Pop singles and frequenting Billboards Top Charts.

After being named Favorite Male R&B/Soul Artist by the American Music Awards in 1997, Sweat celebrated his longevity with his 1998’s aptly titled album, Still in the Game. His 2008 album Just Me made waves on radio and at cash registers and endorsed his claims to remain “in the game”. Keith released his tenth studio album Ridin Solo in 2010. This multi-talented artist masters his craft and expounds upon various interests that keep him fresh in the public’s eye. The state of Georgia authenticated Keith Sweat’s extraordinary talent in the music business with a coveted induction into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2008.

He has appeared on both the Martin show and the Wayans Brothers show, among others, and has starred in a handful of independent movies. Keith Sweat’s initiation into the realty show craze, Keith Sweat’s Platinum House, yielded #1 ranking on the Centric network – of which, he was Creator and Executive Producer.

Arlo Guthrie & Judy Collins

Friday, June 12, 2020 8:00pm

Judy Collins has long inspired audiences with sublime vocals, boldly vulnerable songwriting, personal life triumphs, and a firm commitment to social activism. In the 1960s, she evoked both the idealism and steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices. Five decades later, her luminescent presence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 55-album body of work, and heed inspiration from her spiritual discipline to thrive in the music industry for half a century.

The award-winning singer-songwriter is esteemed for her imaginative interpretations of traditional and contemporary folk standards and her own poetically poignant original compositions. Her stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” from her landmark 1967 album, Wildflowers, has been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Judy’s dreamy and sweetly intimate version of “Send in the Clowns,” a ballad written by Stephen Sondheim for the Broadway musical A Little Night Music, won “Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards. She’s garnered several top-ten hits gold- and platinum-selling albums. Recently, contemporary and classic artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Shawn Colvin, Dolly Parton, Joan Baez, and Leonard Cohen honored her legacy with the album Born to the Breed: A Tribute to Judy Collins.

Arlo Guthrie has been known to generations as a prolific songwriter, social commentator, master storyteller, actor and activist. Beginning the seventies under a recording contract for Warner Bros., Guthrie helped set the standard for the singer-songwriter genre burgeoning at the time. Perhaps the best known is Hobo’s Lullaby (1972), featuring a diverse body of work. Most notable is the definitive version of Steve Goodman’s The City of New Orleans that was a hit on all major charts. Another critically acclaimed album was Amigo (1976), which includes Massachusetts, honored in 1981 as the official state folk song.

In 1983, after more than 15 years with Warner Records, Arlo left the “music industry” to become a truly independent artist, and established Rising Son Records(RSR), one of the first indie labels in existence. RSR is still in active operation serving as his recording and production company. To date RSR has released over twenty titles, both all-new material and re-mastered versions of his classic records, including the Grammy-nominated Woody’s 20 Grow Big Songs (1991) featuring Arlo, his brother, Joady and sister, Nora.

Come see Judy Collins and Arlo Guthrie this June at the Twin River Event Center!

TLC

Friday, July 24, 2020 8:00pm

One of the greatest legacies in music history can be summed up by just three letters—TLC.

Those characters merely hint at the talent of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, and the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, but they immediately evoke an unparalleled journey nonetheless. That journey encompasses immortal anthems such as “Waterfalls,” “Creep,” “No Scrubs,” and “Unpretty,” to name a few, as well as sales of 70 million records worldwide, four GRAMMY® Awards, two RIAA diamond-certified albums among a total of four multiplatinum albums, ten Top 10 singles, and four Number 1 singles. Meanwhile, the VH1 original film CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story chronicled their rise and broke records as the highest-rated television film premiere of 2013 and the highest-rated original premiere on the network between consistent touring

Given the legacy behind this timeless moniker, it’s fitting the undisputed “best-selling American girl-group of all-time” chose the name TLC for their fifth and first album in 15 years. Countless fans quite literally “demanded” a new TLC album in 2015. Unassumingly, the girls launched a Kickstarter campaign to simply gauge interest. What they got was an overwhelming and seismic groundswell of support. Fans worldwide—including Katy Perry, New Kids On The Block, Donnie Wahlberg, Bette Midler, —enthusiastically contributed to this next chapter. Raising over $400,000, it became the “fastest and most funded pop project in Kickstarter history.

TLC went as hard as ever in the booth. As a result, the music picks up exactly where they left off just sharper, smarter, sassier, and even a little sexier than before. The same inimitable chemistry simultaneously drives all twelve tracks, which shot the album straight to the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 100 Chart.

At the end of the day, it’s TLC through and through, and there’s nothing more CrazySexyCool than that.
