Steven Palumbo as Dean Martin

Sunday, January 12, 2020 2:00pm

Lush…resonant…romantic. The words apply not only to the lyrics of the songs he sings, but also to the qualities of Steven Palumbo’s elegant voice. The sheer love of music and performing comes through in every note he sings.

Currently best known for his portrayal of Dean Martin in a ‘Rat Pack’ tribute, Palumbo’s powerful voice and personal charm play well to fans throughout New England and indeed all along the East Coast.

A natural entertainer, Palumbo began singing during his childhood in Providence, Rhode Island. He took voice lessons and grew up loving all kinds of music. In fact, he was spotlighted early on when selected for the prestigious Barrington Boys Choir (an American version of the one in Vienna). Through that opportunity, he appeared in the operas Carmen and Tosca at the Providence Performing Arts Center, formerly The Ocean State Theater. Roles in musical theatre followed. Though he later graduated from Ithaca College in New York with a degree in education, Palumbo never lost his ease onstage. A teacher by day, professional singer by night, and audiences applaud this doubly-talented individual.

Presently, the group is still going strong! BBD’s many accolades include numerous Grammy nominations, three American Music Awards, two Soul Train Awards, countless “Keys to The City,” as well as an abundance of esteemed salutations for their many humanitarian efforts. Not only do they continue to tours regularly as BBD, [as members of New Edition] they have been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Awards from both Soul Train and BET. Not to mention, most recently, co producing the BET biopic; The New Edition Story. The 3 part miniseries has been seen by over 29 million viewers domestically and abroad. Ricky, Mike and Ron are stronger today than ever before. Since the early days with New Edition, BBD has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and has won the hearts of millions of fans globally.

Now Air Supply was on their way. The second single was “All Out of Love,” and that went up the charts even quicker. Seven top-five singles later, Air Supply at that time had equaled The Beatles’ run of consecutive top five singles. The albums Lost in Love, The One That You Love, Now & Forever, and The Greatest Hits sold in excess of 20 million copies. “Lost in Love” was named Song of the Year in 1980, and, with the other singles, sold more than 10 million copies.

A native Rhode Islander, Liz could sing as early as she started to speak. Entertaining at parties before she hit double digits. As a child, Liz was influenced by Country musicians such as Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Reba and Janis Joplin. Her influences grew to many different genres as she grew older including Rock legends like Aerosmith, Bonjovi, and Gun N Roses. Even though her heart and soul has always stayed true to Country music, she is equally inspired by her Rock & Roll roots. In the late 90’s into 2000’s she dedicated numerous studio hours recording wedding songs for couples and many other projects.

More recently, Liz could be found singing acoustically or rockin’ out with a full band behind her. A grand prize winner on 93.3 coast FM’s “The Voice” contest in 2011, She has had the pleasure of opening up shows for Wynonna Judd (2012), Jodee Messina (2013), Confederate Railroad (2013) as well as performing in big name fairs such as Woodstock and The Marshfield fair. Playing all over the New England areas from Connecticut to Boston, Liz always brings her passion and love for music in every genre she sings as well as her boundless energy to every performance! She can bring tears to your eyes with a ballad from the heart or get you up on your feet leaving you always wanting more!

GRAND FUNK RAILROAD: SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL TOUR 2020

“You cannot talk about rock in the 1970s without talking about Grand Funk Railroad!” – David Fricke, Rolling Stone Magazine

Originating from Flint, Michigan in 1969, this top selling American rock group of the 70’s is “COMIN’ TO YOUR TOWN TO HELP YOU PARTY IT DOWN”. Grand Funk Railroad is extremely excited to be touring in 2020 marking a 51-year milestone. After playing to millions of fans on the band’s tours from 1996 to 2019, Grand Funk’s SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL TOUR 2020 will continue to reach both new and long-time fans.

Known as “The American Band”, the high-energy five-piece group will play forty shows all over the USA this year. Grand Funk Railroad includes original founding members Don Brewer (vocals and drums, writer and singer of the multi-million selling hit, “We’re an American Band”) and bassist Mel Schacher, “The God of Thunder”. Joining Don and Mel are true “All Stars”. Singer Max Carl is a rock veteran from 38 Special. Max penned and sang 38’s biggest hit “Second Chance” and was co-founder of California’s legendary Jack Mack and the Heart Attack. Don refers to Max as “the best blue-eyed soul singer on the planet. Lead guitarist Bruce Kulick is best known for his 12 years with KISS and also has credits with Michael Bolton, Meatloaf and Billy Squier. (KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were influenced early on by Grand Funk). Keyboardist Tim Cashion has a master’s degree in music from the University of Miami. Affectionately called “Dr. Tim”, his credits include stints with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and English soul man Robert Palmer.

Grand Funk laid the groundwork for such bands as Foreigner, Journey, Van Halen and Bon Jovi with its signature hard driving sound, soulful vocals, muscular instrumentation and forceful pop melodies. The fact that Grand Funk’s legacy still reigns over the Classic Rock landscape fifty years after its 1969 birth in Flint, Michigan is a testament to the group’s influence and staying power. Mega-hits “We’re an American Band”, “I’m Your Captain/Closer to Home”, “Locomotion”, and “Some Kind of Wonderful” still receive continuous airplay on Classic Rock radio. “We’re an American Band” has received notoriety in recent years being used in movie sound tracks and in television/radio advertising. The huge hit was featured in a General Motors national TV ad campaign and in Disney’s animated feature film The Country Bears. “We’re an American Band” was featured in the Cuba Gooding Jr. film RADIO, and also in the swashbuckler SAHARA starring Matthew McConaughey.

Internationally acclaimed Grand Funk has toured the world, selling out in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan and South America. A 1971 performance at New York’s Shea Stadium sold out faster than the Beatles. The group’s widespread appeal is also evident in its prestigious recording achievements. Over their career, Grand Funk has had 19 charted singles, 8 Top 40 hits and two Number One singles (“We’re an American Band” and “Locomotion”, both selling more than one million each). The group has now accumulated 13 gold and 10 platinum records with record sales in excess of 25 million copies sold worldwide. The most recent gold CD award was presented to the band for their greatest hits package Grand Funk Railroad the Collectors Series.

The multi-talented band carries on the tradition of Grand Funk hits and creates a new chapter in the legacy of Grand Funk Railroad. GFR drew 25,000 people to their Molson Canal Series Concert outside Buffalo 20,000 in Albany, New York, and 20,000 fans to downtown Orlando, Florida. EMI/Capitol (Universal Music) released a new Grand Funk Greatest Hits package that includes a bonus DVD of rare concert footage. Grand Funk’s 2019 FIFTY YEARS OF FUNK TOUR was a huge success and now, with the group’s SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL TOUR 2020, seasoned Grand Funk lovers and contemporary rock fans discovering the group for the first time will be able to celebrate with GRAND FUNK RAILROAD!

Collective Soul are pumped and primed to celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2019 in all-out style, but they’re really just gearing up for the long haul. Ever since the barn-burning rock band from Stockbridge, Georgia burst onto the national scene with the runaway success of their multi-platinum 1993 debut Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid and its ensuing mega-smash hits like “Shine” and “Breathe,” they’ve been on an upward trajectory that’s seen them play to sold-out audiences across the globe while concurrently amassing an impressive catalog of beloved songs instantly recognizable by their titles alone.

Collective Soul is proud to welcome the newest member of their recorded family into the world titled Blood. ”I think Blood expresses where we’ve been on this life journey,” observes Roland.

With even more invigorated live sets, Collective Soul 2019 is at its most exciting. “For us, we want to play the hits as we always do, but I think we also want to share the new record with our fans,” Roland explains. “At 25 years later, we want to say, ‘Hey, we’re still making the best that we can do. ‘Right now, I’ve got seven of the new songs in the setlist, and hopefully, on some nights, we can play the whole thing from start to finish. I mean, it’s our 25th anniversary. We’re going at it hard, everyone! We’re going hard.” Heaven has clearly shined its light down on Collective Soul for 25 years running with no end in sight, so here’s to the next quarter-century and beyond! Bask in their continual glow.

Blood, Sweat & Tears

No one can argue BS&T invented a new style of music. Blood, Sweat & Tears is not the first band to ever use a horn section, but they are the first to fuse it with rock, jazz, and some blues thrown in for good measure. From the first ensemble in the late sixties practicing in a loft on Bleeker Street in New York’s Greenwich Village and having crowds clapping on the street below between songs, founding member and drummer Bobby Colomby knew they were on the right course.

Since then, the band has never stopped touring for over 50 years. Their second album self-named “Blood Sweat & Tears” was a success, rising to the top of the charts for 7 weeks and yielding 3 top 5 singles. The album received the Grammy Award for “Album of the Year” in 1970 beating out the Beatles’ “Abby Road”. That album went on to earn quadruple Platinum status with sales well over 4 million units. Blood Sweat & Tears went on to receive 10 Grammy nominations and won 3. Now you can see them live at the Twin River Event Center on March 13, 2020!

Melissa Etheridge-The Medicine Show

Friday, April 10, 2020 8:00pm

“Calling the album The Medicine Show puts straight up, front and center, that this is about health, wellness, cannabis, this new thought, new paradigm, however you want to talk about it, however you want to understand it. It influences every song on the album. We’re not afraid of this anymore. We’ve come a long way.” It’s an album of renewal, of reconciliation, of reckoning, of compassion and, most profoundly, of healing. These, of course, are themes that have run through Etheridge’s career, core to the vision and drive that has brought her fifteen Grammy Awards nominations and two wins, an Academy Award for “I Need to Wake Up” from the climate change documentary An Inconvenient Truth and has fueled her life’s work as an activist for human rights, LGBTQ issues, breast cancer awareness and alternative medical approaches. The healing builds on the musical medicine of its two predecessors, 2014’s exuberantly expressive This is M.E. and 2016’s joyous trip through the cherished history of the iconic Stax Records legacy, Memphis Rock and Soul. Now you can see Melissa perform all of her great hits LIVE at the Twin River Event Center on Friday, April 10 at 8pm! Tickets start at just $35! On sale 11/22 @10am!

Keith Sweat is a Harlem, N.Y born songwriter / record producer/ vocalist / actor / radio personality, with a career that spans 24 years of record-breaking and trailblazing contributions to the Pop and R&B genre. He is coined the genius behind the New Jack Swing phenomenon of the late 1980s. Keith Sweat’s timely transition to the R&B mecca of Atlanta in 1992 added “label impresario” to his roster of talents. Keith has dominated the Pop and R&B worlds with an indefinable presence. His debut and now classic album Make It Last Forever sold more than three million copies, producing four R&B hit singles, including “I Want Her,” which also landed at #5 on the Pop charts. The album stats also include a nomination for the 1989 Soul Train Best R&B/Urban Contemporary Song of the Year award. Keith Sweat has delivered five straight #1 albums, selling a worldwide total of 25 million records. His self-titled 1996 effort, Keith Sweat, gained quadruple platinum status. His critically acclaimed collaboration with fellow superstars Gerald Levert and Johnny Gill on the double-platinum LSG, was launched a decade after he first landed in the music business.

He has thrived as one of Atlanta’s first record industry moguls, building his own recording studio and discovering new artists such as Silk and Kut Klose – signing both multi-platinum groups to his Keia Record label. Sweat has become one of Atlanta’s leading mentors for young talent, its principle purveyor of R&B music. The unflappable Sweat points to his consistency as the key to his success and achievement of a dozen top ten R&B singles including seven #1’s, four top five Pop singles and frequenting Billboards Top Charts.

After being named Favorite Male R&B/Soul Artist by the American Music Awards in 1997, Sweat celebrated his longevity with his 1998’s aptly titled album, Still in the Game. His 2008 album Just Me made waves on radio and at cash registers and endorsed his claims to remain “in the game”. Keith released his tenth studio album Ridin Solo in 2010. This multi-talented artist masters his craft and expounds upon various interests that keep him fresh in the public’s eye. The state of Georgia authenticated Keith Sweat’s extraordinary talent in the music business with a coveted induction into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2008.

He has appeared on both the Martin show and the Wayans Brothers show, among others, and has starred in a handful of independent movies. Keith Sweat’s initiation into the realty show craze, Keith Sweat’s Platinum House, yielded #1 ranking on the Centric network – of which, he was Creator and Executive Producer.
