America

Friday, November 28, 8:00pm

The year 2014 marks the 44th Anniversary of perennial classic-rock favorite, America. Founding members, Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell (along with former band mate Dan Peek) met in high school in London in the late 1960s and quickly harmonized their way to the top of the charts on the strength of their signature song “A Horse With No Name”. America became a global household name and paved the way with an impressive string of hits following the success of their first #1 single.  Forty plus years later, these friends are still making music together, touring the world and thrilling audiences with their timeless sound. Their best-known tunes, which also include “I Need You,” “Ventura Highway,” “Don’t Cross The River,” “Tin Man,” “Lonely People,” and “Sister Golden Hair” were cornerstones of 1970’s Top 40 and FM rock radio. America’s albums–six certified gold and/or platinum, with their first greatest hits collection, History, hitting four plus million in sales–displayed a fuller range of the trio’s talents than did their singles. See America live at the Twin River Event Center on November 28! Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm. Tickets start at just $25 – all ages welcome.

Robert Black is New England’s Premiere Elvis Impersonator and Tribute Artist performing throughout RI, MA,VT,NY,NH,ME while delivering a very dynamic stage presence, and vocally he produces the very remarkable voice quality of Elvis Presley with the same vocal timbre. There are many, many, Elvis Impersonators, but few truly sound like the king himself.

Oh sure, every Rod Stewart impersonator has the haircut, shoes, and clothes…some even have the voice and moves. But in addition to all of that, Jay Gates has something the other Rod Stewart look-alikes will never have. He’s got the nose… jay has rocked audiences in casino’s, clubs, and concert halls from North America to Mexico.

Lisa Carter’s mission is to recreate the essence of this music icon, including four decades of her greatest hits. Flamboyant costumes, Vegas choreography…the feel of Vegas with the glamour of Cher onstage makes this a true extravaganza! Her Bob Mackie costume replicas and audience banter makes Lis’a impersonation of Cher sizzling sensational and simply spectacular.

An Evening of Motown: Starring The Four Tops and Mary Wilson of The Supremes

Friday, January 16, 8:00pm

The Four Tops made their first single for Chess in 1956, and spent seven years on the road and in nightclubs, singing pop, blues, Broadway, but mostly jazz—four-part harmony jazz. Their first Motown hit, “Baby I Need Your Loving” in 1964, made them stars. Their songs, soulful and bittersweet, were across-the-board successes. “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch),” a no. 1 R&B and Pop smash in 1965, is one of Motown’s longest-running chart toppers; it was quickly followed by a longtime favorite, “It’s The Same Old Song”. It was a vision of musical stardom as a Detroit teen that inspired Mary Wilson, along with Diana Ross and Florence Ballard, to found one of the most successful female singing groups in recording history – The Supremes.

Since then, Wilson has gone on to be a part of dozens of hit records, has written a best-selling autobiography, performed on stage and screen, lectured and toured the world, and continues to be looked up to as a singer who set the standard for females in the recording industry. In 1988, The Supremes were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, receiving the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, which Wilson personally accepted. With a successful solo career – and new CD out later this year – Mary’s future couldn’t look brighter. See The Four Tops and Mary Wilson of The Supremes – live at Twin River Casino on January 16! Doors open at 7, show at 8pm! All ages show. Tickets start at $35!

Jennifer Tefft

Friday, January 23, 9:00pm

Jennifer Tefft is a fired up, energizing presence who pulls earthy music from its roots and breathes fresh, soulful, rock and roll life into them. Her music combines intense rhythms with melancholy textures and haunting vocals that wind easily from darkly ethereal to outspoken, creating her own brand of Gritty-Lush Alternative Rock. After getting her start playing for change in the subway tunnels and streets of Cambridge, MA, Tefft has gone on to release four CDs on her own Gypsy Spin Music label

Jennifer’s releases have received critical acclaim such as a Boston Music Award nomination for Best Female Vocalist, and a “Boston’s Best Unsigned Band nod by local press. Shift was awarded “Best Alternative Album” by the Just Plain Folks association in Hollywood, CA. Songs from all 4 releases have been and continue to be used on National Television shows such as CSI, MTV, Stargate Universe, One Life To Live, The Young & The Restless and many others. The intensity and energy of the live show, whether it be a full band performance or a more intimate acoustic gig, often takes people by surprise and when people leave a Jennifer Tefft show, they are already making plans to come back!

Sugar Ray and the Gin Blossoms

Friday, March 20, 7:00pm

Since their 1995 “Lemonade and Brownies” debut, Sugar Ray became stuck in a biennial cycle of touring and recording, touring and recording. 1997’s RIAA double platinum-certified sophomore effort, “Floored,” and its smash follow-up, 1999’s triple platinum “14:59” were trailed by 2001’s self-titled collection and 2003’s “In the Pursuit of Leisure” as well as 2008’s “Music for Cougars” and “The Best of Sugar Ray.”

Sugar Ray can claim credit for some of the most indelible pop hits of the previous decade, including the unforgettable #1 smashes, “Fly” and “Every Morning”. McGrath – who regularly wields ironic humility like a sawed-off shotgun – is justifiably proud of the band’s body of work. For more than two decades, Gin Blossoms have defined the sound of jangle pop. From their late 80s start as Arizona’s top indie rock outfit, the Tempe-based combo has drawn critical applause and massive popular success for their trademark brand of chiming guitars, introspective lyricism, and irresistible melodies. Gin Blossoms soon unfurled a chain of crossover favorites spanning five different formats, from “Hey Jealousy” and “Until I Fall Away” to “Follow You Down” and the Grammy®-nominated “As Long As It Matters,” earning the band sales in excess of 10 million in the US alone. See both of these great acts, live at the Twin River Event Center on Friday, March 20! Sugar Ray and the Gin Blossoms, doors at 6pm, show at 7pm. All ages welcome. Tickets start at just $40!

‘HEAVENLY GINGERS 5′ Will Celebrate The Lives And Passions Of Two Fiery Red-Heads On March 31, 2015, the Twin River Casino will host HEAVENLY GINGERS 5 – a celebration of the lives and passions of Jessica Morris and Keri Anne O’Donnell, in the Twin River Event Center. Both young performers were taken from us far too early – Jessica, at the age of 20, lost her battle with ovarian cancer and Keri, at the age of 15, was killed in a tragic car accident. Memorial funds have been established in both their honors and are being used to help fuel the passion for performance in our youth within the local area.

HEAVENLY GINGERS 5 will once again combine the dancers from Kat’s Dance Centre located in Pawtucket (Jessica’s home studio, owned and operated by her mother, Kathie Morris) and the Dance Workshop located in North Providence (Keri’s home studio, owned and operated by Lisa Gallagher. Other entertainers will join the cast this year, as in past shows. Most of the performers in HG5 knew and performed with one or both of the girls. Local comedians John Morris and Frank O’Donnell (fathers of the Jessica and Keri, respectively) will host the show. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children. They can be purchased in advance at the Twin River Box Office (located on the 2nd floor) or through Ticket Master. Show time is 6:30PM. All proceeds will benefit “Jessie’s Dream” and “The Keri Anne O’Donnell Memorial Fund”.  All ages welcome.

The Beach Boys

Friday, April 17, 8:00pm

You can capsulize most pop music acts by reciting how many hits they’ve had and how many millions of albums they’ve sold.  But these conventional measurements fall short when you’re assessing the impact of The Beach Boys.  To be sure, this band has birthed a torrent of hit singles and sold albums by the tens of millions.  But its greater significance lies in the fact that it changed the musical landscape so profoundly that every pop act since has been in its debt. Happily for us all, The Beach Boys continue to create and perform with the same bold imagination and style that marked their explosive debut over 50 years ago. And now in 2013, their Capitol Records release, Sounds of Summer (triple platinum with over three million in sales and climbing), and it’s companion The Warmth of the Sun marks a resurgence in The Beach Boys interest that has again rocked the world. Now you can see them LIVE at Twin River Casino on April 17! Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm!  Tickets start at just $40!
