On the heels of the Division of Lotteries announcement this morning that Twin River would open table games on June 19th, the chairman of the Lincoln, Rhode Island gaming and entertainment venue confirmed that table games will open to the general public a full twelve days ahead of schedule, referencing the original opening date of July 1st.
According to John E. Taylor, Jr., this milestone in Twin River’s history will be marked with formal ribbon cutting ceremonies at the entrance to the table game first floor space, followed by a brief Blackjack tournament among invited dignitaries who will play for the Rhode Island charity of their choice. Twin River will donate $20,000 to six Rhode Island charities as designated by the winning players. The ribbon cutting ceremonies will begin at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 19th.
“We’re thrilled to open table games sooner than expected and it is a true reflection of the incredible level of cooperation we have received from our regulators, town officials, unions,Twin River staff and our construction team from Gilbane Building Company,” noted Mr. Taylor. “We’ve spent considerable time hiring and training our workforce to well prepare for this new chapter in our history, and we are anxious to unveil this new product to the public.”
Part of preparing the workforce and the regulators for the opening of table games will be a series of brief, invitation-only sessions for small groups of players between the dates of June 14 – 19th. The games will be open to the general public immediately following the June 19th ribbon cutting ceremonies.
