Twin River Table Game Renovation Project Construction Fact Sheet

The Gilbane Building Company of Providence, Rhode Island was selected to renovate and re-create gaming floor and back of house space to accommodate the arrival of 66 table games to the first floor area around Blackstone Bar. The company entered into a Project Labor Agreement with union trades who performed all of the work within a six month period of time. Construction highlights include the following:

Construction Highlights

  • More than 30,000 man-hours worked, at times 2 -3 shifts per day required to meet schedule;
  • Average daily workforce totaled up to 75 construction workers per day; 1
  • 100% safe jobsite; no lost-time accidents;
  • Construction took place Monday – Friday morning to enable maximum operations during later day peak times;
  • The job was completed within budget and 12 days ahead of schedule.

Project Collaboration and Planning:

  • Essential support from Twin River, JCJ Architects, and Chartwell Project Development to deliver a successful project;
  • 100% Rhode Island-based contractors;
  • Over 30 Rhode Island-based trade subcontractors;
  • Over 20 Rhode Island-based suppliers;
  • Coordination with RI Building Futures (apprenticeship program;)
  • Complete coordination between Gilbane, all union trades, Twin River personnel, contractors and Teamsters;
  • Meticulous coordination between Gilbane, Twin River personnel, RI Lottery Commission, RI state police, and GTECH as it related to gaming equipment and operation;
  • Move coordination with RI State Lottery and GTECH to relocate over 1000 slot machines;
  • Collaborative working relationship with Town of Lincoln Building and Fire Departments.

Notable Project Elements:

  • 100% of demolition materials recycled;
  • Over $1.2 million duct work installed above active gaming floor;
  • Latest technology used for LED light fixtures;
  • Full upgrades to existing security system;
  • Miles of low voltage security wiring installed;
  • State-of-the-art video screen wall installed;
  • Multiple audio/video upgrades performed throughout.
